Ted Hanover: male, to play 25-40, lyric baritone. A bit slick and always looking for his big break; Jim’s best friend and performing partner (along with Lila); must be an extremely strong dancer and tap extremely well.
Linda Mason: female, to play 25-40, mezzo/belt. At first she is tough and distant, unwilling to fall for Jim’s charms; but she is ultimately won over by his kindness, humor, and their mutual love of music; a lovely, charming & funny girl.
Lila Dixon: female, to play 25-40, high belt. A sexy showgirl and Jim’s mismatched fiancée; she isn’t the smartest girl in town, but what she lacks in intelligence she makes up for with sheer determination and a love for the spotlight; strong dancer who must tap.
Louise: female, to play 25-60, belt. The local handy woman; tough, no nonsense and extremely perceptive; a strong comedic actor.
Charlie Winslow: child, boy or girl, to play 9-12. Precocious, straight forward and practical, but oddly charming; not one to mince words; one of Linda’s students who works part time as a messenger for the bank.
Danny: male, to play 30s-50s. Jim, Ted, and Lila’s agent. Energetic and sarcastic, will stop at nothing to make his clients stars.
Ensemble: Strong singers and dancers to play nightclub dancers, Midville townspeople, Holiday Inn guests, and more.
