The Croswell Opera House is pleased to offer a workshop for high school juniors and seniors on auditioning for college theater programs!
Led by Julia Hoffert (recruiting coordinator for the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre and Dance) and Michael Yuen (chair of the musical theater program at Siena Heights University), this weeklong class will focus on preparation for both college and professional auditions, with particular emphasis on top-ranked programs like the University of Michigan, Carnegie Mellon, and the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.
The class will meet Monday, July 22 through Friday, July 26 from 9 a.m. to noon.
Who it’s for: Rising high school juniors and seniors. This class will be most helpful for students applying to theater, musical theater, and vocal performance programs. Strategies for professional auditions will also be covered.
What to prepare: Before the week begins, students should prepare two song selections (one uptempo piece and one ballad).
What to bring: Prepared sheet music for your vocal selections. Preparation for dance auditions will be included, so wear or bring clothes that are comfortable for movement. Dance shoes are encouraged if you have them; if you do not, flexible-soled sneakers are recommended.
Tuition: $300 per student.
Registration deadline: July 14 (however, enrollment will be capped at 18 students to maximize personal instruction time, so we recommend signing up early).Register for the College Auditions Workshop here
