Due to the escalating Coronavirus situation, all ticketed events at the Croswell Opera House through the end of April will be postponed or canceled. We will do everything in our power to reschedule rather than cancel these shows; however, we do not have dates at this time. We will provide an update by April 5. We ask for your patience as we work through this process.
This locally written children’s musical features a script by Toledo author Gretchen Zyndorf and music by David Jex. Captain of the Crossing Guards tells the story of a sixth-grader named Monica who needs to choose her crossing guard captain successor from six potential candidates — one of the biggest decisions she’s ever had to make in her young life.
Monica, Captain of the Crossing Guards at St. Angina Elementary School, must choose a successor as she prepares to graduate to middle school. She has served St. Angina’s as the best crossing guard ever, so filling her shoes will be difficult. Six “junior grade” guards are anxious to blow her golden whistle, and each one brings their own unique crossing guard skills to the competition. Who will be chosen to follow in Monica’s footsteps? As Monica gets ready to decide, strange new crossing signs appear overnight, throwing the St. Angina school crossing into an explosion of confusion, silly signs, and upside-down directions which the crossing guards must figure out.
