The Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs will help support the Croswell Opera House’s operations in 2016 with a $24,000 grant.
The Croswell is one of several Lenawee County arts organizations to receive operational support from MCACA, including the Adrian Symphony Orchestra and Tecumseh Center for the Arts. Lenawee County arts and cultural organizations and projects were awarded a total of $105,817 in grants for the 2016 funding cycle, which were announced Sept. 18.
“The state of Michigan recognizes that the arts play a major role in developing strong communities,” Croswell artistic director Jere Righter said. “About 40 percent of the Croswell’s visitors are from outside Lenawee County. By bringing people to Adrian from outside the area, we’re able to be a significant economic driver for our community.”
“The level of support coming from the state to Lenawee County shows that the great work we do here is appreciated on a statewide level,” Righter added.
