mcaca_logo_finalThe Croswell Opera House is among five Lenawee County organizations that will receive funding from the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs in 2017.

The grants were announced Friday in Lansing.

The Croswell will receive $15,000 in operational support from MCACA, plus a $25,000 grant to help with the theater’s capital campaign.

“This support shows that the state of Michigan recognizes how important the arts are in developing strong communities,” said Jere Righter, the Croswell’s artistic director. “Organizations like the Croswell bring millions of dollars into Lenawee County every year, and we’re grateful for the council’s support.”

Other local organizations that will receive funding in 2017 are the Adrian Symphony Orchestra, Tecumseh Center for the Arts, River Raisin Ragtime Revue and downtown Adrian’s annual Artalicious fine arts fair. A total of $101,423 in funding for Lenawee County arts organizations was announced Friday, out of $9.6 million statewide. The complete list of grants can be found here (PDF download).
