Each summer the Croswell offers several college students the opportunity to explore the fundamentals of theatre through an internship program. Interns have the opportunity to engage in box office activities, sound, lighting, carpentry and more. Croswell interns learn about theatre by working alongside professional directors, designers, and other employees in their area of interest. This summer’s interns are Alison Carpenter, Greg Hall, Alex Hamilton, Ariel Sheets, Eva Trunzo, Maggie Walker, and Aiden Zamzow.
Alison Carpenter, despite her last name, is not a carpentry intern, but is returning as the box office intern. Alison is a sophomore at Eastern Michigan University and a proud member of the Honors College majoring in Arts and Entertainment Management. She enjoys volunteering, spending time with her family and friends, and lip-syncing to her favorite Broadway tunes, and hopes you will enjoy this summer’s lineup. A fun fact about Alison is that she has flown out of the country three times and hopes to increase that number by studying abroad soon.
Greg Hall is a technical intern returning for his second year at the Croswell. He is a recent graduate of Bowling Green State University where he received a degree in Technical Theatre/Design. Greg looks to continue bettering himself as a carpenter as well as an overall theatrical technician. Outside of theatre, Greg likes to listen to music and study other forms of art such as metalworking, woodworking, and upholstery. In the near future, Greg will get married to his best friend so that they can be poor together and have an unnecessary amount of dogs.
Alex Hamilton is one of the Croswell’s technical interns this summer and is a senior at Siena Heights University where he is conducting a contracted degree around management in arts. In his spare time, Alex can be found writing fiction/poetry, watching football, or playing board games. A few fun facts about Alex are that through his experiences and opportunities, he had the privilege to travel to Italy with Siena’s football team as well as go to Martha’s Vineyard and attend The Martha’s Vineyard Institute of Creative Writing, where he was able to work on future projects.
Ariel Sheets is a technical intern this summer. She will be a junior at Siena Heights University in the fall, majoring in Theatre and Visual Art. In her free time, Ariel enjoys golfing, bowling, attending musicals and plays, and creating unique pieces of art. Ariel is a pet owner to her own little fur babies which include a hedgehog and pitbull-boxer mix. She hopes to expand on the unique bunch by hopefully adding a parrot and lizard soon!
Eva Trunzo is another technical intern this summer. She recently graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from Truman State University and looks forward to a future of roaming the country, drifter-style, and working as a scenic carpenter. When she isn’t kicking butt and taking names, Eva enjoys getting lost in the woods, playing a little bit of Dungeons and Dragons, and going on roadtrips with friends. A few fun Eva Facts are that she has a penchant for finding and raiding swingsets at local parks and has managed to accidentally set a drill on fire.
Maggie Walker is this summer’s costuming intern. Maggie is a Senior at Central Washington University where she is currently pursuing a BFA in Design Production. While Maggie is not sewing skirts and hemming pants, she may be reading, baking, or drawing. Maggie would like to share one of her most favorite quotes with all of the readers. “Knowledge is power. France is Bacon.” She hopes you will enjoy the summer productions.
Aiden Zamzow is a technical intern for the second time (he assumed the role during the summer of 2016 as well). Aiden recently graduated from Siena Heights University with a double major in Psychology and Philosophy and plans to attend graduate school at the University of Toronto or DePaul University, Chicago. Of his many interests, he has managed to isolate two that are worth mentioning; namely, civil rights and medieval philosophers that no one cares about anymore (I’m looking at you Ockham). In closing, Aiden would like to pass on a piece of ubiquitous wisdom to those who are interested in the technical side of theater: when in doubt, simply “table it.”
