The Croswell Opera House in Adrian is inviting church, school and college choirs from across southeast Michigan and northwest Ohio to take part in the Croswell’s 2015 Christmas show, “Handel’s Messiah Rocks.”
“Handel’s Messiah Rocks” is a high-energy, rock-style adaptation of George Frideric Handel’s choral masterpiece, which has become a staple of the holiday season. Performances will take place on Nov. 28 and 29 and Dec. 4, 5 and 6.
Each choir will participate in one performance, and some performances may feature multiple choirs.
Participating choirs will be given music and basic choreography in early fall. The show’s music director will work with choir leaders and each group will have an opportunity to rehearse the complete piece before the performance, but for the most part, individual choirs will prepare independently.
Although preparation will start in the fall, the Croswell is looking to line up the participating choirs as soon as possible.
