The Croswell Opera House in Adrian is inviting church, school and college choirs from across southeast Michigan and northwest Ohio to take part in its Christmas 2015 production of “Handel’s Messiah Rocks.”
“Handel’s Messiah Rocks” is a high-energy, rock-style adaptation of George Frideric Handel’s choral masterpiece, which has become a staple of the holiday season. Performances will take place at the Croswell on Nov. 28 and 29 and Dec. 4, 5 and 6.
Each choir will participate in one performance, and some performances may feature multiple choirs.
Participating choirs will be given music and basic choreography to learn over the course of a few weeks. The show’s music director will work with choir leaders and each group will have an opportunity to rehearse the complete piece with the Croswell’s cast before the performance. For the most part, individual choirs will be able to prepare independently and on their own schedules.
