The Croswell Opera House in Adrian has announced open auditions for four upcoming productions: “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang,” “In the Heights,” “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum,” and “Beauty and the Beast.”
Auditions are scheduled for three dates: Saturday, March 11, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Sunday, March 12, from 3-6 p.m.; and Sunday, March 19, from 3-6 p.m. All auditions will take place at Encore Dance Studio, 124 E. Maumee St., Adrian, across the street from the Croswell.
Auditioners should prepare a song and bring sheet music for the accompanist. Although prior dance experience is not necessary, the auditions do include a dance portion, and auditioners are asked to wear or bring loose, comfortable clothing and appropriate shoes.
Auditioners may arrive at any point during the scheduled times, but should plan on being at auditions for one or two hours.
Adult performers are needed for all four shows. Children’s roles are available in “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” and “Beauty and the Beast.”
“In the Heights,” which takes place in the mostly Dominican-American neighborhood of Washington Heights in New York, requires many performers of Hispanic descent.
Most shows are in rehearsal for six to eight weeks, and rehearsals take place evenings and weekends to accommodate work and school schedules. Auditioners will be asked to list any conflicts when they register.
